Sally Freels
Sally Freels started piano lessons at
age 6, and has also studied clarinet, pipe organ, and classical
guitar. She originally attended Northwestern University as a
clarinet performance major, but soon switched into a double major
program in music and mathematics, and has ever since used math as a
supporting career with music as a passionate hobby. In 1997 her
keyboard activities shifted from substitute church organist to rock
and roller when she co-founded the Genesis tribute band Grand Parade.
For nine years she studied and performed primarily Gabriel-era
Genesis material with the band, later branching into Yes and ELP.
After an interim rest and brief study of ragtime solo piano, she
continues her musical growth with DNR in 2007. Outside of her
keyboardist life, Sally is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics at
UIC and plays bass in early Black Sabbath tribute Rat Salad.
